Still Here, Still Entertaining: Experience in an Industry That’s Changed
The wedding and event entertainment industry has changed dramatically over the past few years.
When COVID shut everything down, many professionals were forced to step away — and when events returned, hundreds of new DJs entered the industry almost overnight. Some were talented. Some were learning. Many were simply trying something new.
Through all of it, one thing remained true for me:
music, broadcasting, and live entertainment have always been my profession — not a trend.
A Career Built Long Before the Boom
Long before social media ads, wedding apps, and Facebook groups, I was already working in radio broadcasting and live event entertainment.
Radio taught me how to:
Understand audiences
Program music intentionally
Control timing, pacing, and energy
Communicate clearly and confidently
At the same time, I was building my reputation as a wedding and special event DJ, learning how to guide celebrations, read a room, and create moments that feel natural and joyful.
When the World Stopped, I Adapted — Again
When COVID brought weddings and events to a halt, I returned to radio full-time, spending 4.5 years running and programming two radio stations.
That wasn’t a detour from entertainment — it was a continuation of it.
While many people were discovering DJing for the first time, I was:
Programming music daily
Managing audiences
Leading under pressure
Staying immersed in sound, timing, and performance
Those skills didn’t fade — they sharpened.
An Industry Flooded with New Faces
As events returned, so did the industry — but it looked very different.
Hundreds of new DJs entered the profession:
Some as weekend side hustles
Some learning on the job
Some with little real-world event experience
There’s nothing wrong with being new. Everyone starts somewhere.
But experience matters — especially when you’re trusted with a once-in-a-lifetime celebration.
Why Experience Still Matters
Weddings aren’t practice sessions.
They require:
Calm leadership
Musical knowledge across generations
Professional MC skills
Backup plans
Respect for families, venues, and traditions
Experience shows itself quietly — in smooth transitions, relaxed couples, and dance floors that feel natural rather than forced.
Why You May Not See Thousands of Online Reviews
Many of the weddings and events I’ve entertained took place long before online reviews became standard.
My business was built through:
Word of mouth
Venue referrals
Family recommendations
While I’m grateful for every review I’ve received, many satisfied clients simply never had the opportunity — or reminder — to leave one online.
That doesn’t reflect a lack of experience.
It reflects longevity.
Still Doing This for the Right Reasons
What hasn’t changed is why I do this.
I still love:
Watching families come together
Seeing generations share the dance floor
Creating moments people remember years later
Helping couples feel confident and at ease
Wedding and event entertainment isn’t a side hustle for me.
It’s my full-time profession and passion.
A Reputation That Didn’t Arrive Overnight
In an industry that’s grown quickly, reputation takes time.
Mine was built by:
Showing up prepared
Treating people with care
Respecting sacred moments
Doing the job right, consistently
That foundation matters more than ever in a crowded marketplace.
Final Thought
Trends come and go.
Side hustles fade.
Experience lasts.
In an industry that’s welcomed many new faces in recent years, I’m proud to still be here — bringing decades of music, broadcasting, and event experience to every celebration I’m trusted with.
